Food! A Fantastic Gift Idea!

Let’s face it, food is a fantastic gift!  It satisfies us in a lot of ways, not only for ourselves, but for others as well.  Whether we’re happy or sad, we love to get or give, something to eat.

Food! A Fantastic Gift Idea!

There are so many different ways you can give an item of food as a gift and here are a few ideas that will help you out.

Giving to a new Mom so the family won’t have to worry about finding something to eat after bringing home their precious child, would be helpful.  You can also help out a hostess by offering to bring an addition to their food items.  Or, you can take food to a grieving family that had lost someone in their lives.

There really are endless opportunities to give someone a lovely gift of food, but exactly what to give is another question.  I usually go into my recipe stash and pull out a recipe to make something I think they would like.  In the past, I’ve actually said to them, “I want to bring over some food for you guys so you don’t have to worry about what to eat,  what would you like?”  Then I would give them 3-4 choices, so they can decide.   I didn’t do that all the time, sometimes, I would make something I knew they liked and just surprised them with it.  It’s up to you, in what you think is best for the receiver.  Most times they don’t mind what you bring, they’re just so appreciative of the thought.

My favorite food offering, along with many others, (I just enjoy making and giving food), is soup!  They can throw it in a crock pot if they don’t have time to watch it and enjoy at their leisure.  I even like to freeze it and take it to someone, so they can have it whenever they want.  Another idea that I love, is making meals and freezing them.  I thought, “What a great idea, to give that to a family that just brought home a new baby”!  It will give them more than one day of not having to worry about a meal!  They can pick what they want from the freezer in the morning and either thaw it out in the frig to cook in the oven, or put right in the crock pot.  Either way, they won’t have to worry about dinner and they can focus on bonding with their little bundle of joy!

Again, there are so many different ways to give food and I hope this gives you ideas for giving to someone in need.  Because we can all use a break in the kitchen, so I call that a need!  😉

Let me know what kind of food you’ve given to someone and for what reason!  The reason could be, just because!

Sue, I love this post. A gift of food is the perfect gift in so many situations. My father was impossible to buy a gift for, he did not want to accept anything; so a gift of food was perfect for him. Lots of older people have all the “things” they want and really do not appreciate most gifts; again, a gift of food, something they can use and not have to find a place for, would be a true gift.

Thank you Jean! I couldn’t agree more! I have great memories of taking my Grandma homemade soup and how much she appreciated it. Thanks for taking the time to send me a message! Much appreciated!
